There are currently no laws in regards to allowing marijuana possession for medical purposes in Wyoming. Though the state of Wyoming has attempted to make marijuana legal for medical necessities, all those in possession or who cultivate will be charged according to state regulations.

Some states categorize marijuana laws by the number of prior offenses while others categorize by whether or not an individual is over the age of eighteen or over the age of fourteen. Wyoming categorizes its possession laws by the amount an individual possesses upon arrest. An individual who is under the influence of marijuana or uses marijuana will be charged with a misdemeanor offense. This misdemeanor offense can earn up to ninety days of imprisonment and a fine of one hundred dollars.
Possessing fewer than three ounces is considered a misdemeanor offense. This crime can earn a fine of one thousand dollars and up to one year of incarceration. Possessing more than three ounces is considered a felony offense. Felony marijuana possession can earn up to ten thousand dollars in fines and up to five years of imprisonment. Any individual who possesses any amount of marijuana on or within five hundred feet of school property will earn an additional fine of five hundred dollars. This fine will be added on to any misdemeanor or felony marijuana offense.
Cultivation
Marijuana cultivation offenses are not categorized by the amount at hand. Instead all Wyoming cultivation offenses are grouped into one category and are treated the same. Cultivating any amount of marijuana is considered a felony offense. These offenses can earn up to one thousand dollars in fines and up to six months in jail.
Sale
The sale of marijuana is always considered a felony offense in the state of Wyoming. Sale offenses are broken into distance and age categories. The sale of any amount of marijuana will earn up to ten thousand dollars in fines and up to ten years of imprisonment. Selling any amount to a minor is also a felony offense; however the sale to a minor who is three years or more younger than the individual selling marijuana will earn more severe charges.
Minor sale offenses double the average penalty for sale penalties and can vary based on the amount sold. This crime is normally penalized with a fine of twenty thousand dollars and up to twenty years in prison. Selling any amount of marijuana on or within five hundred feet of school property can earn a mandatory minimum of two years in prison and a fine of one thousand dollars.
Other
All subsequent offenses of cultivation, sale, or possession offenses will automatically earn doubled penalties. This means that an individual can be charged with twenty years of imprisonment rather than ten years and be fined twenty thousand dollars rather than ten thousand. Wyoming currently does not have any specific law in regards to driving under the influence of marijuana. Those who operate motor vehicles under the influence of marijuana will often, instead, be charged with possession offenses and driving while intoxicated offenses.
